Software Engineer Intern

About the Role

Gearzo is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for a full-time, Remote position. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the founding team, contribute to product decisions, and help build a real-world technology product from the ground up. The intern will gain practical startup experience, work on real-world challenges, and contribute directly to shaping Gearzo’s technology and product experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with the founding team to develop and improve Gearzo’s customer and mechanic applications.
• Develop mobile application features using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.
• Design and build clean, intuitive, responsive, and user-friendly application interfaces.
• Integrate APIs and connect application interfaces with backend services.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Identify and resolve bugs, troubleshoot technical issues, and improve application performance.
• Participate in product planning, technical discussions, and feature prioritisation with the founding team.
• Take ownership of assigned features and contribute throughout the development and testing lifecycle.
• Use Git and GitHub to manage code and collaborate on development tasks.
• Test applications across devices and screen sizes to ensure a consistent user experience.
• Research new technologies, suggest improvements, and contribute ideas to enhance Gearzo’s products.

Qualifications

• A strong interest in software engineering, mobile application development, and building technology products.
• Knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript and familiarity with React or React Native.
• Understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, and object-oriented programming concepts.
• Basic knowledge of APIs, databases, and backend development.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub is preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and work in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with the founding team.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Personal projects, GitHub contributions, or previous application development experience are an advantage.
