Subject Matter Expert, Data Science

About the Role

The Subject Matter Expert – Data Science will design and deliver high-quality data science learning experiences for students in an academic setting. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing curriculum and learning materials.
• Preparing and conducting classroom sessions, labs, and workshops.
• Mentoring learners on projects, assignments, and certification preparation.
• Creating practical case studies.
• Evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback.
• Staying current with emerging tools and techniques in data science and related fields.
• Collaborating with academic coordinators and industry partners to align content with hiring needs and support placement readiness.

Qualifications

• Strong foundations in statistics, probability, linear algebra, and core data science concepts.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python or R, and experience with data manipulation libraries and frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques, model building, and evaluation using industry-standard tools and workflows.
• Comfort working with databases, SQL, and data pipelines, including data cleaning, preprocessing, and visualization.
• Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring learners in technical subjects, preferably in data science or related areas.
• Ability to design structured learning content, lesson plans, and assessments tailored for college and university students.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Exposure to real-world data science projects or industry experience that can be translated into practical classroom examples.
• Commitment to learner success, openness to feedback, and readiness to continuously update skills with evolving technologies.
• Relevant certifications are an added advantage.
