About the Role
The Business Development Representative role is the engine of new-logo pipeline: identifying high-value accounts, engaging decision-makers, and generating qualified opportunities for the enterprise sales team. This is a launchpad role. BDRs who hit quota consistently move into account executive, sales management, or customer success tracks within 12-24 months, backed by formal enablement and a leadership team that tracks and promotes on performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a pipeline of qualified meetings through high-volume outbound across phone, email, and LinkedIn, using tools like Outreach or Apollo.
- Research target accounts using intent data, firmographic signals, and news triggers to personalize messaging for VP- and C-level prospects.
- Qualify inbound demo requests and event leads against ICP criteria before routing to account executives.
- Own weekly activity and pipeline targets: dials, connect rates, meetings booked, and qualified opportunities generated.
- Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene in Salesforce — accurate notes, lead statuses, and next steps on every touch.
- Partner with marketing to test messaging, provide field feedback, and refine sequences by segment and vertical.
- Hit monthly and quarterly pipeline-generation targets and present results in team forecasting and retro sessions.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in SDR/BDR roles, inside sales, customer-facing work, or competitive environments (athletics, startup internships, hospitality leadership all count).
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to craft concise, relevant outreach and hold a credible conversation with a director-level buyer.
- Coachable and data-driven: comfortable being graded on activity metrics, conversion rates, and call recordings.
- Resilient and self-motivated in a high-volume, quota-carrying environment with fast feedback loops.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with CRM and sales-engagement tooling (Salesforce, Outreach, ZoomInfo, or similar).
- Bonus: prior SaaS or technology sales exposure, experience selling to technical buyers, or completion of a structured sales training program.
