About the Role
NextEra Energy Resources is seeking a Wind Technician to join their team in Pratt, KS. This on-site role is critical for ensuring the safe and optimal performance of wind farm operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics.
- Focus on long-term reliability and profitability of wind farm operations.
- Implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions and comply with OSHA regulations.
- Participate in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects.
- Recruit and develop other technicians.
- Support the site manager with safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and turbine availability.
- Collaborate with internal users to develop and implement operational feedback and solutions for maintenance and improvement projects.
- Represent NextEra Energy positively in the community and with customers.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment.
- Complete electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Maintain all company-supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling.
- Apply a basic understanding of technical and process functions.
- Manage personal training schedules and meet all training requirements.
- Meet attendance requirements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Overview Details
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and associated equipment.
- Understand the mechanics of wind turbine components, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Replace mechanical and electrical components.
- Understand schematics and utilize appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Interpret fault reports.
- Maintain power generation reports and service logs in the computer database.
- Monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- High School Grad / GED
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet.
- Post-Offer Functional Capacity Evaluation

- Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
