Entry-Level Composite Mechanic

About the Role

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials.
• Work to instructions from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures.
• Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation.
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground.
• Work in confined spaces.
• Work over head.
• Work within a team environment.
• Proficient use of technology, including computer, phones, laser projection, and digital vacuum gauges.
• Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up.
• Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, and markers.
• Maintain a clean working environment.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks.
• This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).
• Special Program Access (for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship).
• Must meet export control compliance requirements; a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.

Additional Details

• This is a union-represented position.
• Pay Range: $22.52/hour, with potential to earn up to $37.40/hour.
• Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
