Resume vs Job Description Match
Paste a job posting and your resume to see how well they match: a score, the skills the job asks for that your resume doesn't show, and the phrases the posting repeats. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.
Your resume
The job description
How to use it
- Upload or paste your resume.
- Paste the full job description, including requirements.
- Add the missing skills you really have, using the posting's exact words, then check again.
How the match score works
70% of the score is skills: the tools, languages and qualifications named in the posting (for example Python, Excel, Salesforce, CPR) and whether your resume names them too. 30% is the posting's own repeated words and phrases, which are what a recruiter types into the ATS search. A score above 70 is a strong match for an entry-level role.
How to tailor your resume without lying
Use the job's exact wording for things you've done: if it says “data visualization” and you built dashboards, say “data visualization dashboards”. Put the most important skills in both your Skills section and a bullet. Mirror the job title in your summary. Never add a skill you can't talk about in an interview.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good resume match score?
Above 70 is strong for entry-level roles. Below 50 usually means the posting's main skills or wording are missing from your resume.
Is it OK to copy keywords from the job description?
Yes, for skills and experience you really have. ATS searches match words, so using the posting's terms helps the recruiter find you. Don't paste in skills you don't have.
Do I need to tailor my resume for every job?
For jobs you really want, yes. Ten minutes matching the top skills and title to each posting usually does more than sending the same resume to fifty jobs.
Is my resume stored?
No. The comparison runs in your browser; nothing is sent to our servers.
