New grad software

Best for: CS and engineering grads applying for software, data and IT roles.

Projects carry the resume when you have little work experience: name the stack, say what it does, and give one number (users, speed, tests).

The person, school and employers are made up, and the numbers only show where a result goes. Replace them with your own true details. “Use this template” opens the free resume builder with this text filled in, and the PDF download is free.

How to use it

  1. Pick the template closest to your situation.
  2. Click “Use this template” to open it in the builder, or copy the plain text into Word or Google Docs.
  3. Replace every detail with your own: name, school, employers and bullets. Only use numbers you can explain.
  4. Download the PDF and check it with the free ATS resume checker.

What makes a resume template ATS-friendly

One column, no tables, text boxes, icons, photos or skill bars. Standard headings (Experience, Education, Skills) in the order recruiters expect. A standard font. Dates in one consistent format. A text PDF or Word file, never an image. These templates follow all of that, so what a system extracts is what you see.

Which template should you pick?

New grad software: projects and a skills block lead the story. New grad business and finance: Excel, models and reconciliations with dollar amounts. Internship: classes, clubs and part-time work with simple numbers. Career changer: a summary naming the new target role, then old duties translated into the new job's language.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ATS resume template?

A plain, single-column resume layout that applicant tracking software can read without scrambling sections. It uses standard headings and real text instead of graphics, tables or text boxes.

Are these resume templates free?

Yes. Copy the text for free, or open a template in the free resume builder and download the PDF with no account, watermark or payment.

Can I use a template with my own details?

That's the point. The people, schools and employers in the samples are made up; replace everything with your own details, and keep the structure.

Are two-column resume templates bad for ATS?

They often are. Many systems read across columns line by line, mixing your skills into your job history. A single column avoids that.

Should I use a Word or PDF resume?

Either works if the PDF is text-based, not scanned. Follow the employer's instructions if they ask for a format. When they don't, a text PDF keeps your layout stable.
