About the Role

Helix is building the intelligence terminal for biopharma capital markets. Our platform helps healthcare hedge funds, pharma business development teams, and advisory firms turn clinical, regulatory, and market data into investment-grade insight.

As the first Research Validation Analyst/Intern, you will build the system that proves and improves Helix's accuracy. You will test the platform against real-world outcomes, identify shortcomings, and translate findings into fixes and published benchmarks. This role is a part-time, remote position supporting the assessment and optimization of the AI capabilities and intelligence output of the Helix Terminal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a gold-standard test set of historical biopharma events, including FDA approvals, complete response letters, clinical holds, trial readouts, and advisory committee votes.
  • Backtest Helix's regulatory forecasting against past FDA decisions and measure probability accuracy.
  • Stress-test the platform's answers on known catalysts to find factual errors, missed events, stale data, and overconfident reasoning.
  • Log, categorize, and prioritize failures, and write clear reports to drive product fixes.
  • Help transform validated results into client-facing proof, such as accuracy summaries, case studies, and benchmark reports.
  • Track catalysts in real time and score Helix's calls once outcomes are known.
  • Design and execute test plans.
  • Evaluate layer/model performance against defined metrics.
  • Document findings in clear, actionable reports.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to identify issues, validate product features, and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and user experience.
  • Prepare internal presentations.
  • Support the creation of evaluation tools, scripts, and dashboards.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Product-focused skills: Experience or strong interest in working as product specialists or in product evaluation, with the ability to understand AI/ML product features and user needs.
  • Working knowledge of drug development: Clinical trial phases, endpoints, and the FDA approval pathway.
  • Rigorous and skeptical mindset; ability to check primary sources.
  • Strong written communication: Ability to explain findings clearly and concisely.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and structured data.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data, assess model performance, and draw evidence-based conclusions.
  • Communication and collaboration: Clear written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively.
  • Work approach: Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, learn quickly, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong interest and/or experience in biopharma and life sciences, as well as in business, finance, and investment strategy.
  • Advanced Degree Optional.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in biotech investing, healthcare equities, or regulatory science.
  • Familiarity with ClinicalTrials.gov, FDA databases, SEC filings, or company press releases.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, or data analysis.
  • Prior research lab, consulting, or investment experience.
  • Curiosity about how AI systems succeed and fail.
  • Experience at an institutional investment firm, biopharmaceutical company, or in a buy-side analyst role.

Compensation

  • Monthly stipend: $800-$1,000.
  • Expected commitment: Minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Role compensated as an Independent Contractor (Non-Employee).
