Constraint & Delivery Manager (Thermal)
Vertiv
About the Role
- Own plant-level supply constraint identification and delivery performance.
- Act as the first-line resolver of supply disruptions, proactively addressing issues before the production scheduler is aware.
- Ensure no line stops, no surprises, and no excuses.
- Time Horizon: 0 – 30 days.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and escalate supply constraints daily; maintain a plant-level constraint register.
- Manage supplier delivery performance at the plant level.
- Drive root cause analysis on delivery failures.
- Mitigate line-down risk by coordinating emergency supply actions before production impact.
- Expedite critical materials.
- Escalate commercial leverage requirements to the Regional Category Manager (RCM) after exhausting first-line options.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with production planning to maintain aligned constraint and delivery horizons.
- Execute root cause analysis on delivery failures and track corrective actions to closure.
- Support inventory optimization by flagging excess and shortfall positions to the planning team.
- Participate in Category Teams as an extended member to surface recurring supplier delivery issues to the Global Category Manager (GCM)/RCM.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Line-Down Incidents: Zero procurement-attributable line stops.
- Supplier On Time Delivery:
- Requested Delivery Failure Rate <5%
- Promised Delivery Failure Rate <2%
- Constraint Resolution Cycle Time: ≤72 hours from identification to resolution plan for Critical-category constraints.
- Expediting Cost: <0.5% of managed spend attributed to emergency/expedited freight and premiums.
- Past-Due PO Reduction Rate: 10% QoQ reduction in past-due purchase order backlog at plant level.
- Production Schedule Adherence: ≥98% of production schedules met, with procurement-attributable shortfalls <2%.
Governance Cadence
- Plant Supply Chain & Delivery Review (Daily / Weekly): Constraint identification, line-down risk, expedite actions, Tier 1–4 plant cadence.
- Category Team (Extended) (Per Global Category Council): Recurring supplier delivery issues surfaced to GCM/RCM for commercial action.
- Production Planning Alignment (Daily): Constraint horizon update, inventory position, schedule risk flags.
- RCM Escalation (As required): Commercial escalation for expediting after first-line options exhausted.
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Regional Procurement Lead (solid line).
Escalation Path
- Product & project issues: Procurement Product Line Management structure.
- Category & supplier issues: Category Management structure.
