Mechanical Product Design Engineer
Tejtronics
About the Role
Tejtronics is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to design and develop indigenous RF communication technologies. The role involves more than just CAD modeling; it requires hands-on problem-solving and seeing designs through to actual product realization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, enclosures, chassis, brackets, mounts, and assemblies for RF and electronic products.
- Develop mechanical solutions for RF amplifiers, filters, radios, antennas, and associated hardware.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and BOMs.
- Design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and cost.
- Work with materials and processes including aluminium, sheet metal, CNC machining, welding, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
- Build and iterate prototypes and collaborate closely with the workshop and manufacturing vendors.
- Work with RF and electronics engineers on mechanical integration, thermal management, and heatsink design.
- Design mechanical systems involving bearings, shafts, gears, fasteners, and moving mechanisms.
- Participate in prototype testing, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
- Work with vendors and fabricators to transition designs from CAD to manufactured hardware.
- Maintain engineering drawings, revisions, BOMs, and other product documentation.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A genuine hands-on engineering mindset.
- Strong hands-on experience with a 3D CAD tool such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, CATIA or equivalent.
- Good understanding of mechanical design, tolerances, fits, fasteners, and material selection.
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Understanding of common manufacturing and fabrication processes.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of experience in mechanical/product design.
Experience in one or more of the following will be an advantage:
- RF/electronics enclosure design
- Antenna or RF hardware
- Thermal management and heatsink design
- IP-rated/rugged enclosures
- Aluminium fabrication
- CNC machining
- EMI/EMC considerations
- Rotating mechanisms, bearings, gears or actuators
- Rapid prototyping / 3D printing
- Taking a product from concept → prototype → testing → manufacturing
