Mechanical Design Engineer
Attron Automotive
About the Role
Attron Automotive is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong fundamentals, good design thinking, and hands-on interest in CAD, FEA, and product development. The role is suitable for freshers or early-career engineers who are eager to work on real engineering products, understand design constraints, and contribute to mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing support.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on mechanical design of motor, controller, powertrain, and related EV components.
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Support design calculations, tolerance stack-up, material selection, and design reviews.
- Perform basic FEA simulations for structural, thermal, and vibration-related requirements.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, vendors, production, and quality teams for design execution.
- Support prototype development, assembly trials, fitment checks, and validation activities.
- Prepare BOMs, design documentation, technical reports, and test observations.
- Improve existing designs for manufacturability, cost, weight, reliability, and ease of assembly.
- Support root-cause analysis for mechanical failures, fitment issues, or performance concerns.
- Maintain proper version control and documentation of drawings, CAD files, and design changes.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Good understanding of machine design, strength of materials, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerances, fits, and manufacturing drawings.
- Basic exposure to FEA tools such as ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, Abaqus, or equivalent.
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations before relying on simulation.
- Good problem-solving ability and design thinking.
- Willingness to work hands-on with prototypes, assembly, testing, and production teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with EV components, motors, controllers, enclosures, shafts, housings, cooling systems, or sheet metal parts.
- Knowledge of thermal management, vibration, sealing, IP ratings, and DFM/DFA.
- Exposure to prototyping, machining, casting, sheet metal, aluminium parts, or plastic components.
- Internship or project experience involving CAD, FEA, product design, automotive, robotics, EVs, or mechanical systems.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be someone who:
- Has strong engineering fundamentals.
- Can think from first principles before directly jumping to CAD.
- Is comfortable designing parts, assemblies, and mechanisms.
- Understands that CAD is a tool, not the complete design process.
- Can learn quickly from testing, manufacturing, and field feedback.
- Is detail-oriented in drawings, fits, tolerances, and documentation.
- Is excited to work in a fast-moving product development environment.
What We Are Not Looking For
- Someone who only knows CAD commands but does not understand design logic.
- Someone who depends only on FEA without basic engineering calculations.
- Someone who is not comfortable with hands-on prototype and manufacturing interaction.
- Someone who is not willing to document design decisions properly.
