or Plumbing Designer
Mazzetti
About the Role
Mazzetti is seeking entry-level Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Designers to join our Engineering team in Summer 2027. This is an opportunity to launch your career designing building systems that directly impact how people experience the built environment. Depending on your discipline, you’ll support the design of HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems for complex facilities, with a focus on healthcare, science and technology, and other high-performance buildings. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and designers, gaining hands-on experience with real projects while developing your technical expertise, understanding of project delivery, and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and documentation of mechanical HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses with guidance from experienced team members, such as:
- Mechanical: heating and cooling loads, ventilation requirements, and HVAC system sizing.
- Electrical: lighting and power calculations, voltage drop and short-circuit analysis.
- Plumbing: domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, and other plumbing system calculations and sizing.
- Develop construction drawings, diagrams, and other project documentation using Revit and related design tools.
- Learn and apply applicable building codes, engineering standards, and Mazzetti design practices.
- Contribute to energy-efficient, resilient, and lower-carbon building solutions.
- Work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and other Mazzetti disciplines.
- Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, structural engineers, and other project partners.
- Participate in project meetings and learn how client needs are translated into technical design solutions.
- Communicate questions, ideas, and design considerations clearly with project team members.
- Support construction administration activities, including reviewing submittments and responding to project documentation.
- Participate in site visits to observe existing conditions, construction progress, and installation of designed systems.
- Assist with renovation projects by documenting and evaluating existing building systems.
- Learn from experienced engineers and designers through project work, mentorship, and technical training.
- Build your knowledge of building systems, codes, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
- Develop the technical, communication, and project-delivery skills needed to take on increasing responsibility over time.
- Pursue professional development opportunities, including progress toward Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification where applicable.
