Store Manager in Training

About the Role

GNC's Store Manager in Training (SMIT) position is a development-focused role designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store. This hands-on program will teach the skills and knowledge needed to successfully operate a store, drive for results, and develop and lead a team. The SMIT role is a fast track to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively engage in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support the path to promotion.
• Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and customer relationships.
• Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals, while helping sales associates realize their sales potential.
• Build strong teams, demonstrate leadership and managerial skills, including giving feedback to store associates regarding work performance, recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
• Opening, closing, and operating the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory count, and deposits according to GNC procedures.
• Attending community fairs, conferences, meetings, and other public gatherings to promote the organization's mission and initiatives.
• Oversee daily operations of the store, including business performance and product management.
• Lead, coach, and support the team to provide exceptional service and guidance to customers.
• Represent the GNC brand by offering expert product knowledge and promoting the "Live Well" message.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Full-Time Hourly Supervisory Position
• Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
• Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting (below waist and above shoulders).
• Frequent use of repetitive hand-to-finger motions and reaching with hands and arms.
• Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds, occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Push/pull up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders, reach, and bend.
• Work in temperatures ranging from 50 - 85 degrees.
• Use of a computer up to 60% of the time.
• Must work at least two nights during the week until closing, one weekend night, and one other night for mall and strip center stores.
• Strip center SMITs must work a full shift on Saturdays.
• Mall SMITs must work peak business days including weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
• Must work a minimum of one full Sunday per month.
• Downtown store SMITs must work during the lunch hour (11 am to 2 pm) Monday through Friday and one night per week until closing if the store is open in the evening.
• Must work all major U.S. holidays that the store is open.
