Mechanical Design Engineer intern

About the Role

My Design Minds is a product design and engineering solutions company specializing in industrial design, mechanical CAD, product development, prototyping, and manufacturing support. We work on real-world engineering challenges, helping transform concepts into functional, manufacturable products. We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer Intern with a strong interest in 3D CAD modelling, mechanical design, and product development, particularly using SolidWorks.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D CAD Modelling: Create accurate 3D parts, assemblies, and mechanical components using SolidWorks.
• 2D Engineering Drawings: Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, annotations, and GD&T wherever applicable.
• Product Design: Assist in developing mechanical components, product enclosures, sheet metal parts, plastic components, and assemblies.
• Assembly Design: Work on complex assemblies, component mating, interference checks, and design validation.
• Design Modifications: Update existing CAD models and drawings based on engineering feedback and client requirements.
• Manufacturing Support: Understand design for manufacturing (DFM), material selection, machining, injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing.
• Technical Documentation: Maintain organized CAD files, BOMs, revision records, and engineering documentation.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate with senior design engineers, electronics engineers, and prototyping teams during product development.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• SolidWorks & CAD Designing:
• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks Part, Assembly, and Drawing environments.
• Understanding of 3D modelling, sketching, constraints, features, and design intent.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and convert concepts into 3D models.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, dimensions, fits, and tolerances.
• Attention to detail and a structured approach to CAD modelling.
• Additional skills (preferred):
• Sheet metal design and weldments.
• Surface modelling and plastic product design.
• GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or other CAD software.
• Understanding of 3D printing and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Students in their final year or recent graduates may apply.
• Candidates with a strong portfolio of SolidWorks projects will be preferred.
• Freshers with good CAD skills and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Internship Details

• Position: Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

• Location: Sector 150, Noida, Uttar Pradesh
• Work Mode: Full-time, On-site
• Duration: 3–6 months
• Stipend: ₹8,000–₹12,000/month
