CG Generalist - Environment Intern

About the Role
The Internship Program offers exposure to the craft, technology, and operations behind animated films. It focuses on developing skills, providing industry mentorship, and fostering collaboration within a studio environment. Interns will be immersed in hands-on projects guided by artists, technologists, and production leaders.
Program Details
- Dates: February - April 2027 (12-week assignment)
- Location: Burbank, California
- Availability: Interns must be fully available for the duration of the assignment.
Job Summary
As a CG Environment artist intern, you will gain exposure to various departments within the environment pipeline. You will receive individualized mentorship while exploring disciplines such as:
- Modeling: Creating 3D models of natural terrain, vegetation, architecture, vehicles, and props using Maya and proprietary foliage software (similar to SpeedTree).
- Look Development CG Texturing/Surfacing: Applying textures and surfacing to both natural elements (foliage, sand, trees) and hard surfaces (buildings, furniture, vehicles).
- Environments: Procedural authoring in both modeling and look development.
Key Qualifications
- Interest in CG Environment Departments (e.g., Modeling, Look Development).
- Working knowledge/understanding of CG software, including: Maya, ZBrush, Houdini, StudioPaint, Painter, Renderman, or Photoshop.
- Strong eye for visual appeal.
- Background in art, animation, or filmmaking is a plus.
- Scripting (MEL, Python, C++) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Linux systems is a plus.
Reel Requirements
- Submit a website, portfolio, or reel (max length 2 min) demonstrating interest and experience in the listed disciplines.
- Include a shot breakdown on your reel if applicable.
- Upload a resume including your school and expected graduation date.

Compensation
- Pay rate: $22.50 per hour.
- Select benefits may be provided.
Eligibility
- 18 years or older.
- Enrolled in a post-high school educational program (Community College, College, University, Trade, Online School, or equivalent) and returning to the program for at least one semester post-internship.
