About the Role
Talking Book Publishers, Inc. is seeking a reliable Bilingual (English/Spanish) Audiobook Assistant. This position is in-person only and will begin as part-time, with the potential to grow into full-time. The role involves rotating through various audiobook production processes for English and Spanish books and magazine articles.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the prep and research of upcoming audiobooks.
- Record live narration.
- Review previously recorded audio to ensure performance quality and accuracy.
- Master audio, ensuring recordings are error-free and technically in specification.
- Work with narrators and audio recordings.
- Work on a variety of audiobook genres.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong written and verbal English and Spanish language skills are mandatory.
- An "ear" for sounds and pronunciation.
- Ability to work in a quick-paced, multitasking environment.
- Ability to work well with others, including actively working with a narrator.
- Reliability and consistent attendance.
- Flexibility and a team-player attitude.
- Professionalism.
- Skill test required as part of the hiring process.
- Training will be provided.
- Potential to move into a full-time position.
- Available to work at least 20-30 hours per week.
- Available to work a mix of shifts (Morning, Afternoon, possibly some evenings).
- Casual dress code environment.
Qualifications
- Strong English and Spanish literacy skills.
- Some knowledge and experience with audio recording and editing.
- Spanish Linguistics experience is highly sought after.
- Previous knowledge and use of diacritics are highly sought after.
- Experience with Protools, Adobe Audition, and iPad Ebook readers (e.g., Apple Books, Kindle) is helpful, but training is available.
- Other languages in addition to English and Spanish would be very helpful.
- A love for audiobooks of all types and genres.
Compensation
- Starts at $19.29 per hour, with potential to increase to $23.00 per hour.
