About the Role

The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) is a clean energy nonprofit. As the Graphic Design & Social Media Intern, you will create email, social, and print materials connecting AESP with its members and volunteers. You will build reusable design systems and see your work published across the association.

Key Responsibilities

• Redesign AESP's email templates in Constant Contact. Audit current templates for layout, mobile rendering, accessibility, brand consistency, and performance.
• Build Social Press Kit assets. Create reusable, customizable graphics for volunteers.
• Draft messages for volunteer online groups. Write AESP messages and design supporting graphics, following the communications team's strategy.
• Support chapters and volunteer groups with design. Produce flyers, social images, newsletter templates, event fabric banners, and more.
• Support multi-touch campaigns. Create graphics and copy for campaigns on LinkedIn and Instagram.
• Help shape a 2027 volunteer messaging playbook. Support the communications team in developing shared guidance for volunteer messaging.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Adobe Illustrator or similar enterprise-level design platform
• Working knowledge of other Adobe Creative Cloud tools
• Attention to detail and comfort working within brand guidelines
• Clear, concise writing for social media
• Reliability and ability to manage deadlines independently in a remote role
• Asana

Qualifications

• A design portfolio (academic and personal projects count)
• Proficiency in AP style writing (preferred)
• Experience with Canva (preferred)
• Experience with email design or a platform such as Constant Contact (preferred)
• Familiarity with LinkedIn and Instagram for professional audiences (preferred)
• Interest in clean energy or association marketing (no energy background needed) (preferred)

Position Details

• Reports to: Director of Communications
• Hours: ~15 hours per week
• Location: United States (remote)
• Duration: Spring 2027 semester (January 5 to May 14, 2027)
• Compensation: $15 per hour
