About the Role

SJ Investment Company, LLC (SJIC) is an investment fund that provides capital, strategic guidance, and operational support to promising early-stage companies with a proven "Proof of Concept". The focus is on companies in their second funding round or beyond that aim to scale their growth. SJIC plans to double its investment volume in the coming year and sees great potential in its diversified portfolio. For applicants, this means a dynamic environment with close contact to innovative business models and growing technology and service companies.

In the role of Research & Development & Project Support, you will work full-time on-site in the Greater Kolkata Area, collaborating closely with the investment team and portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on technologies, markets, and competitors.
• Prepare analyses and reports.
• Support the evaluation of new investment opportunities.
• Plan and execute R&D activities.
• Evaluate experimental results.
• Support project-related documentation and presentations.
• Contribute to the further development of products and processes in cooperation with portfolio companies.
• Ensure projects are implemented on time and with quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Research & Development (R&D): Experience in research and development (R&D) and applied research; ability to systematically plan and evaluate studies and experiments.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and confidence in handling data and evaluation methods to critically interpret results and derive clear recommendations for action.
• Communication: Very good verbal and written communication skills to present complex matters understandably and to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and international stakeholders.
• Laboratory and Method Competence: Practical laboratory experience and solid laboratory skills, including careful documentation, adherence to safety standards, and handling of relevant measurement and analysis tools (if applicable).
• Additional Qualifications: A completed degree in natural sciences, engineering, economics, or a related field, a high willingness to learn, an independent work style, and an interest in startups and innovation projects are desirable.
