About the Role

Nium is seeking a Business Development and Go-to-Market Associate based in San Francisco to help grow our business across North America. This is an opportunity to build a career in fintech sales and learn how businesses move money across borders. You will research prospective clients, support outreach, help generate qualified opportunities, and work alongside experienced commercial colleagues to bring payment solutions to market. We welcome candidates with 0–1 years of professional experience, including those with strong internships and relevant work experience. We value curiosity, determination, focus, resilience, and the ability to learn quickly and act on feedback. You may have demonstrated these qualities through work, competitive athletics, academic projects, leadership, or other sustained commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research prospective clients: Identify companies, decision-makers, and payment use cases that align with Nium’s solutions and target markets.
  • Support outbound prospecting: Develop thoughtful outreach through email, professional networks, and calls to start conversations with potential clients.
  • Help qualify opportunities: Learn to understand prospects’ businesses, payment needs, and priorities, and connect qualified opportunities with the appropriate commercial colleagues.
  • Support go-to-market execution: Help prepare prospect lists, account research, presentations, and outreach campaigns for priority industries and markets.
  • Learn the payments business: Build practical knowledge of cross-border payouts, card issuing, and emerging payment solutions, and learn to explain their value clearly.
  • Prepare for client conversations: Support meeting preparation, capture accurate notes, and coordinate timely follow-up and next steps.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work with Business Development, Marketing, Solutions Partners, and other colleagues to support prospect engagement and deal progression.
  • Maintain accurate records: Keep CRM contacts, activities, and opportunity information current so the team can track progress and follow through.
  • Measure and improve: Work toward agreed outreach, meeting, and pipeline contribution goals; use feedback and results to improve your approach.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • 0–1 years of professional experience. Strong internships and relevant work experience in sales, business development, customer-facing work, research, or a related area are valued.
  • A clear interest in building a career in business development and learning about fintech and payments.
  • Determination, focus, resilience, and the ability to stay motivated through rejection or setbacks.
  • Coachability: you seek feedback, apply it, and take responsibility for improving your performance.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage new people and ask thoughtful questions.
  • Curiosity and research skills, with the ability to understand a company’s business and identify relevant contacts.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to contribute in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfort learning CRM systems, prospecting platforms, and other tools that support commercial work.
  • Professional proficiency in English for collaboration with colleagues and clients.

Additional Experience We Value

  • Internship or work experience in fintech, payments, financial services, or a B2B technology company.
  • Experience with outbound outreach, customer engagement, or projects that required research and persuasive communication.
  • Evidence of sustained effort and achievement through work, competitive athletics, academic projects, student organizations, volunteering, or other commitments.
  • Practical use of AI tools to support research, organization, or drafting, with careful review for accuracy.
