Payroll Tax Intern

About the Role

Full-Time HR Payroll Tax Intern to support payroll tax tasks.

Based onsite in Piscataway, NJ.

Expected duration: 6 - 12 months.

Pay-rate: $25 per hour.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM with 4 days onsite.

Complimentary lunch for onsite staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state, and local payroll tax filings.
• Support reconciliation of payroll tax liabilities against payroll registers and general ledger accounts.
• Help monitor multi-state tax registrations, and assist in tracking and applying updates to state/local tax rates, wage bases, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax reconciliations.
• Help identify and troubleshoot payroll tax discrepancies or notices from tax agencies.
• Perform any other projects and ad-hoc duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Fast learner with ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Able to attend to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Mandarin Chinese speaker is preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Self-driven individual and able to work independently.
