IT Support Desk Intern

About the Role

Michael Baker International is seeking an IT Support Desk Intern to join the IT Support and Field Services team in their Pittsburgh (Moon Township), PA office. Operating under general supervision, this individual will be responsible for fulfilling various service request and hardware asset management responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include assisting with employee onboarding and off­boarding activities, hardware asset decommissioning, computer imaging, and shipping.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the IT organization in optimizing processes and procedures related to operations, security, and compliance.
• Gain exposure to various systems and technologies utilized within the organization to support internal issues and requests.
• Collaborate with the IT team on special projects while acquiring fundamental IT skills.
• Aid the existing IT team with hardware-related projects, including building and customizing new hire devices and supporting device refresh initiatives for existing users.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues for a wide range of computer hardware and software applications/systems, including hardware, software, network, printers, and scanners, for all users both on-site and remote.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships.
• Contribute positively to a team environment.
• Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Document standard procedures and troubleshooting guides for day-to-day operations.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• GED or Highschool Diploma required.
• Pursuing Bachelors or Master's degree in a related field with one year of completed college-level coursework.
• Undergraduate student majoring in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• Must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Strong customer support experience.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.

Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
