About the Role

Join Butterball for an exciting 10-12 week summer internship as an Animal Care & Wellbeing (ACWB) Intern. This role is based in Goldsboro, NC, and aims to grow future leaders by providing professional development and assignments aligned with professional interests within the processing and manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in ongoing trials and projects involving turkeys on the farm and/or in the plant.
• Evaluate data gathered to improve management practices.
• Assist in animal care and biosecurity audits and audit preparation, as needed.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business or related field with an expected graduation date of December 2027 through June 2029.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Occasional night shift may be required.
• Comfort working in outdoor environments and production facilities, including hot, humid, and loud conditions.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Interest in learning about the commercialization of livestock.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment, computer, telephone, keyboard.
• Occasionally required to climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

• Work will be performed in various environments: climate-controlled office, outdoor farm locations, and manufacturing plant (varying conditions, including cold, wet, warm areas, chemicals).
• Required to wear and work in personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Noise levels in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA, requiring hearing protection.
• Travel is required.
