System Development Engineer, Astra ADC

About the Role

Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) Astra ADC provides foundational services for Amazon builders, encompassing continuous deployment orchestration, testing infrastructure, and configuration management. The team operates critical ASBX services within Amazon's secure and isolated environments, including CloudFormation, Cloudshell, Managed Developer Environments, and Operator Tools, ensuring parity, reliability, and security across all partitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate services at scale in air-gapped environments.
• Drive cross-partition deployment parity.
• Build automation for secure workload delivery.
• Dive deep into complex distributed systems issues.
• Improve the builder experience.
• Review deployment health across isolated regions.
• Conduct code reviews for cross-partition automation fixes.
• Participate in design discussions for new ASBX service capabilities in air-gapped environments.
• Troubleshoot deployment pipeline issues.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong Linux & Networking Fundamentals.
• Deep experience working with Linux in large-scale, distributed environments.
• Understanding of networking technology and service communication across isolated boundaries.
• Experience in deep-dive troubleshooting and technical post-mortem discussions.
• Proficiency in software development methodology and CI/CD practices.
• Experience building and deploying solutions for large-scale software delivery.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
• Experience with tools for automation (building, testing, releasing, or monitoring).
• Python scripting language.
• Experience on highly concurrent, high throughput systems.
• Knowledge of complex distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or above, or CND (Certified Network Defender) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials).
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.
• The selected candidate must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
• The selected candidate must obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work, after start.
