3D Character Animator intern

About the Role

9e Studios is an international 3D creative studio specializing in cinematic visuals, photorealistic CGI, motion graphics, and immersive digital experiences. The studio supports product launches, architectural films, brand campaigns, and visual storytelling. Operating across Costa Rica, Dubai, and the GCC, 9e Studios collaborates with brands, agencies, and enterprises.

This is a full-time, on-site 3D Character Animator intern role based in Hyderabad. The intern will support the animation team in creating expressive 3D character performances, from blocking to final polish, aligned with project briefs and creative direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with motion capture data.
• Assisting in character rigging and testing.
• Contributing to storyboarding and previsualization.
• Using Autodesk Maya for character animation workflows.
• Collaborating with artists and producers.
• Iterating based on feedback to maintain high visual and technical standards.
• Learning studio pipelines.
• Improving animation fundamentals.
• Supporting the delivery of cinematic-quality work.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in character Animation and fundamentals of performance, timing, and body mechanics.
• Skills in Motion Capture workflows, including cleaning, retargeting, and integrating mocap data into character rigs.
• Skills in Rigging, with an understanding of character setup, deformation, and control systems.
• Skills in Storyboarding and visual storytelling to communicate ideas, beats, and character actions clearly.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Maya for 3D character animation and related production tasks.
• Relevant qualifications include ongoing or completed studies in Animation, VFX, Game Design, Multimedia, or a related field.
• Ability to collaborate in a studio environment, follow direction, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly in a multicultural setting.

Beneficial skills include familiarity with other 3D or compositing tools, basic understanding of lighting and rendering, and a strong animation portfolio or reel.
