Software Development Engineer 1
NikahForever
Software Development Engineer – I (SDE-1)
About the Role
We are looking for exceptional engineers who can pick up new technologies, understand unfamiliar codebases, break down complex problems, and find solutions. You will work on backend systems, debug production issues, build AI-powered workflows, and explore new technologies. We value how you think, how fast you learn, and what you can build.
Key Responsibilities
- Own problems end to end: From understanding requirements to designing, building, testing, deploying, and monitoring the solution.
- Work across tech stacks: Frontend, backend, databases, infrastructure, APIs, and AI tooling.
- Build with AI at the core: Utilize AI coding assistants, agentic coding workflows, and autonomous AI agents.
- Think beyond the obvious: Challenge assumptions, identify root causes, and find simple, scalable solutions.
- Move fast and ship: Turn ideas into working software quickly without compromising correctness, reliability, or maintainability.
- Take production ownership: Investigate bugs, performance bottlenecks, unexpected failures, and real-world edge cases.
- Explore and experiment: Evaluate new frameworks, tools, models, and technologies.
- Operate with high ownership: Figure out how to get things done independently.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, databases, networking, and software engineering.
- The ability to learn unfamiliar technologies independently and become productive quickly.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- A builder's mindset: experience with building projects, experimenting with technology, or automation.
- Genuine interest in AI-assisted software engineering and agentic AI: exploring agents, tool calling, MCP, multi-step workflows, and autonomous task execution.
- Comfort working in an environment with high expectations, rapid execution, changing priorities, and significant individual responsibility.
- Clear communication, intellectual honesty, and the ability to ask the right questions.
Qualifications
- B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related field.
- 0–1 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Prior experience at a reputed product-based technology company is a strong plus.
- Experience working on real production systems, shipping features to actual users, or dealing with software maintenance beyond college projects is valued.
The Kind of Engineer Who Will Thrive Here
- Sees new technology as an opportunity to learn.
- Uses AI to multiply output and takes responsibility for shipped code.
- Prioritizes building a working prototype quickly and iterating.
- Naturally investigates how things work.
- Takes pride in solving non-obvious problems.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and minimal predefined steps.
- Wants to build things that real users depend on and see measurable impact.
- Ambitious about growth and willing to put in extra effort.
