About the Role
Our North America Energy Commercial Operations team is hiring a Junior Trade Analyst in Houston. You will support our US Power, Environmental and Softs trading and origination teams across the full trade lifecycle, from booking and physical scheduling to daily P&L and settlement support. You will work every day with traders, originators, settlements, operations, accounting and engineering, and help build the tools that make those processes faster and more reliable. This is an in-office role; supporting the daily P&L close can extend into the evening on busy days.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review daily and next-day P&L, investigate variances, and explain P&L drivers to traders and management
- Book and maintain financial and physical power, environmental and structured trades in our trading system
- Schedule physical power with ISOs and counterparties and confirm schedules
- Support environmental products, including auctions and registry accounts, and physical softs operations, including deliveries, storage and invoicing
- Support FTR trading, auctions, transfers, reconciliations and P&L checks
- Partner with settlements and operations to resolve trade and invoice discrepancies
- Test system changes before release and work with engineering to resolve production issues
- Automate manual workflows using Python, SQL, APIs and AI tools
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field
- 0 to 2 years of experience
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Programming experience, preferably in Python, and an interest in building tools
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, including with sensitive financial data
- Ability to work independently and prioritize requests from many stakeholders
- Clear written and verbal communication and a genuine interest in energy markets
Nice to Have
- Coursework or experience in power markets, ISO operations, FTRs or physical power
- Exposure to an ETRM system (Endur/OpenLink preferred), SQL or APIs
- Familiarity with mark-to-market, realized vs. unrealized P&L and the trade lifecycle
