Junior UAV Design Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Design Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of FPV drone frames, structures, and mechanical assemblies. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to develop reliable, cost-effective, and manufacturable drone products.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design and optimize FPV drone frames, structures, and mechanical components.
• Support prototype development, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Analyze designs to improve weight, strength, performance, and manufacturability.
• Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
• Identify design and manufacturing issues and support root cause analysis.
• Coordinate with electrical, avionics, procurement, production, and testing teams.
• Incorporate feedback from testing and production into design improvements.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned engineering tasks.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, including part modeling, assemblies, and drafting.
• Basic understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and BOM preparation.
• Knowledge of materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum, and engineering plastics.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, 3D printing, and composite fabrication.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• Hands-on experience with FPV drones, UAVs, or RC aircraft (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of FEA or structural analysis (preferred).
• Exposure to rapid prototyping and DFM/DFA principles (preferred).
• Academic or personal projects involving drones, robotics, or mechanical design (preferred).
