Product Engineering Intern

About the Role

SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions in HVAC and Detection and Measurement. As a Product Engineering Intern, you will contribute to real-world projects supporting innovation and continuous improvement across engineering teams. This role offers hands-on experience in R&D, product development, mechanical and electrical design, and engineering support for electric heating solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation.
• Support prototype builds, modifications, and testing activities.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in lab or field testing of components and products.
• Operate test equipment and record accurate data for analysis.
• Document test results and provide input on product performance and improvements.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
• Assist with engineering change documentation and project tracking.
• Support sourcing, materials evaluation, or supplier collaboration efforts.
• Work with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, or updates for leadership.
• Learn project lifecycles from concept through testing and production.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
• Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and concepts.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; collaboration in a team setting.
• Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Experience with business systems (e.g., ERP/CRM/CPQ) or analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) is a plus.
