About the Role
The Taxation Executive will be responsible for managing the company's direct and indirect tax compliance. This role involves handling GST, TDS, and income tax filings, reconciliations, assessments, and audits, while ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- GST Compliance
- Own end-to-end GST compliance across all registrations, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-6, GSTR-9/9C, and IMS actions.
- Ensure correct GST treatment (rate, HSN, place of supply, valuation) on every transaction stream, identifying and correcting exposures before filing.
- Own e-invoicing and e-way bill compliance, including exception monitoring, cancellations, and amendments within statutory windows.
- Reconciliations and ITC Protection
- Own ITC integrity. Reconcile books with GSTR-2B and IMS monthly, drive vendor resolution of mismatches, and block or reverse ineligible credit.
- Build vendor compliance tracking to flag non-filers to procurement and payments before credit is lost.
- Reconcile marketplace TCS (s.52 CGST) and TDS credits against sales, settlement reports, GSTR-8, and Form 26AS/AIS. Ensure full credit is claimed and discrepancies are closed with each marketplace.
- TDS and Income Tax
- Own the TDS function: correct section and rate determination, deposits, quarterly returns, and certificates.
- Own preparation of the ITR, the tax audit report, and supporting computations in coordination with statutory and tax auditors.
- Assessments, Notices, and Litigation
- Own every GST and income tax notice from receipt to closure, including portal monitoring, deadline tracking, response strategy, drafting, and coordination with consultants.
- Maintain defence-ready documentation for every material tax position to support assessments, audits, and appeals.
- Maintain a litigation and contingent-liability register for financial statement disclosures.
- Audit Readiness and Records
- Be the single point of accountability for tax schedules, workings, and query resolution for statutory, tax, and departmental audits, delivered on agreed timelines.
- Own the compliance calendar across GST, TDS, income tax, and related laws, with escalation built in.
- Maintain organized, retrievable tax records for the full limitation period.
- Regulatory Intelligence and Process Improvement
- Track Finance Acts, GST Council recommendations, notifications, circulars, CBIC and CBDT instructions, and relevant judgments. Assess impact on the Company and implement required changes in ERP, masters, and processes within the effective date.
- Identify tax efficiency opportunities within the law, including ITC optimization, refunds, working capital impact, and structuring inputs, and present them with quantified impact.
- Design and own controls over tax processes to reduce manual intervention and error risk.
- Run periodic self-diligence reviews across GSTINs and channels to detect and remediate exposures before the department does.
