About the Role

PeopleTec, Inc. is seeking a motivated recent Computer Science graduate to join our technical team as an Associate Data Integration & Software Specialist in Huntsville, AL. This hybrid/on-site role involves designing, building, and maintaining data exchange pipelines and application interfaces to connect disparate internal databases and external partner platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and external stakeholders to ensure reliable, automated data flow across systems. This position serves as a bridge between core software engineering, data architecture, and technical project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Data Integration & Interface Development

  • Design, build, and maintain data transformation routines and data exchange schemas (e.g., XML, JSON, REST APIs) to enable seamless communication between heterogeneous software platforms.
  • Implement parsers, validation routines, and automated import/export pipelines for clean data migration and interoperability across systems.
  • Modernize legacy data structures and formats by converting them into standardized, scalable web and enterprise schema standards.
  • Conduct initial testing, debugging, and quality verification on data exchange workflows prior to deployment.

Technical Coordination & Project Support

  • Coordinate cross-functional technical syncs and sprint reviews; assist in establishing sprint milestones and tracking team deliverables.
  • Document meeting notes, track action items, and follow up with internal development teams and external partners on technical requirements and open tickets.
  • Monitor project deadlines and proactively communicate roadblocks or timeline risks to technical leads and management.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to evaluate potential vendor proposals, software tools, or third-party APIs for system compatibility and performance.

Documentation & Technical Communication

  • Draft comprehensive system interface documentation, API specifications, data flow diagrams, and user guides.
  • Present technical updates, data metrics, and project status briefings to team leads, non-technical stakeholders, and peers.
  • Prepare clear technical write-ups proposing solutions or corrective actions for data pipeline bottlenecks.

General Team Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with fellow developers, systems analysts, and operations personnel to support continuous integration and operational reliability.
  • Perform code reviews, adhere to standard version control practices, and follow team software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards.

Requirements & Tech Stack

Required Skills/Experience

  • Core Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of data structures, algorithms, relational/non-relational databases, and client-server architectures.
  • Data Interchange & Scripting: Hands-on experience (via coursework, academic projects, or internships) working with structured data formats (XML, JSON, CSV), schema validation (XSD, JSON Schema), and at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript/Node.js).
  • Database Fundamentals: Proficiency with SQL and querying relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document code clearly and present technical concepts to peers and project leads.
  • Tools: Familiarity with modern collaboration suites (Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Slack) and version control platforms (Git/GitHub/GitLab).
  • Ability to travel up to 15–20% for on-site team planning or stakeholder workshops as required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related technical field (graduated within the last 12 months or nearing graduation).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to RESTful API design, web services, or middleware/integration platforms.
  • Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines or messaging queues.
  • Prior internship, capstone project, or open-source contribution involving cross-system data transfer or interface design.
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Jira, Trello).
