Occitan Language Specialist

About the Role

This is a remote, freelance opportunity for an Occitan Language Specialist to train and improve AI language models. You will evaluate and refine AI-generated Occitan content for accuracy, fluency, and cultural relevance.

Key Responsibilities

• Content Review and Annotation: Review, annotate, and refine Occitan-language texts to improve AI training data quality and consistency.
• AI Output Evaluation: Assess AI-generated responses for grammatical accuracy, fluency, syntax, semantics, style, and overall linguistic quality.
• Cultural and Contextual Validation: Ensure generated content reflects appropriate cultural context, idiomatic usage, and Occitan language nuances.
• Error Identification: Detect, categorize, and document recurring linguistic errors, inconsistencies, and areas for model improvement.
• Training Data Quality: Provide precise linguistic feedback to enhance dataset accuracy, relevance, and reliability.
• Prompt and Evaluation Improvement: Collaborate with project teams to refine prompts, evaluation methods, and linguistic guidelines.
• Quality Standards: Apply consistent linguistic criteria when assessing outputs and contribute to improving evaluation practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Share expert recommendations to help AI systems produce more natural, contextually appropriate, and culturally sensitive Occitan content.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Fluency in Occitan, with a strong command of grammar, syntax, vocabulary, semantics, and idiomatic expressions.
• Demonstrated professional experience in translation, linguistics, language teaching, editing, proofreading, or a related field.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to assess language quality accurately and consistently.
• Excellent attention to detail when reviewing, annotating, and correcting linguistic content.
• Cultural knowledge of Occitan-speaking communities.
• Ability to identify, classify, and clearly document linguistic errors.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and deliver consistent results independently.
• Experience in training, coaching, linguistic annotation, or AI data evaluation is an advantage.
• Comfort working with digital tools and adapting to evolving AI training workflows.
• Contractors are responsible for providing their own secure computer and stable internet connection.
