Intern, Firmware Verification Engineering

About the Role

As an Intern, you will be part of the Firmware Verification Team responsible for designing and developing white box and grey box tests in Python to verify firmware designs of Storage systems for AI workloads. You will collaborate closely with product architects and firmware engineers to create a comprehensive firmware verification test. This role involves contributing to test strategy, test development, integrating tests using various development platforms, and performing failure analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with firmware engineers & architects on product architecture and designs to define the comprehensive verification plan.
• Design, develop, and integrate white box and gray box tests on SSD products in roadmap inline with latest methodologies.
• Conduct test plan reviews and code reviews to ensure tests are scalable and meet requirements.
• Participate in driving failure analysis and collaborate with integration/execution engineers for test deployment.
• Work with the memory (NAND) systems team to understand the implementation of algorithms handling I/O paths, behavior of NAND with single or double bit errors, and correction mechanisms.
• Work with firmware engineers to understand logs/events for triaging and debugging test failures.
• Use SanDisk proprietary tools and open-source test frameworks to run, monitor, and triage test suites.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong hands-on experience with understanding of NAND architecture design.
• Experience with data path validation.
• Experience handling NAND level errors.
• Experience with firmware/hardware debugging across multiple platforms (pre-silicon, emulation, silicon bring-up).
• Proficiency in Python.
