Property Tax Intern

About the Role

Advantax is offering paid internships for the fall and winter compliance seasons, with an opportunity to join the January to May compliance season for exceptional interns. This is an on-site position in our Elgin, IL office. The internship focuses on learning the personal property tax compliance cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Handling and processing of vast amounts of asset data
• Putting together property tax returns
• Organizing documentation needed to process returns
• Communicating with local state jurisdictions throughout the country
• Comparing county assigned appraised values vs our proposed tax values for consulting opportunities
• Filing property tax returns and assisting with property tax payments

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Fast learners
• Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
• Ability to multi-task

Qualifications

• Working towards a bachelor’s degree with a major in a business-related field
• Upper class status at a university
• Strong interest in tax

Successful Candidates Will

• Extensively analyze and process large amounts of data in Excel and the property tax system
• Communicate with jurisdictions around the country to resolve discrepancies
• Assist the team in completing filing deadlines
• Assist the data analyst team in finding and entering tax bills
• Learn organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
• Work closely with experienced personnel and management
• Obtain a fundamental understanding of the property tax cycle
