About the Role
The Research Technician will work in the Yang Laboratory, contributing to the lab's cardiovascular research efforts. The role involves conducting experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Laboratory Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts routine experiments following established procedures and protocols.
- Performs techniques including PCR, ELISA, immunoblotting, tissue culture, tissue collection, and other molecular biology laboratory techniques.
- Documents test results and maintains accurate records of experiments.
- Performs limited data interpretation and assists with basic statistics and analysis.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and manages inventory of supplies.
- Prepares stock solutions, reagents, and other media.
- Works with and teaches veterinary students in the Yang Lab.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's Degree in a related science discipline.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Experience with tissue culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, protein purification, and other related techniques.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills typically acquired by completing a Bachelor’s degree in science with up to one year of laboratory experience.
- 1-3 years of related scientific work experience.
This is a grant-funded position with a 2-year limited term and potential for extension.
Pay Range: $20.90 - $28.90 per hour, based on experience, expertise, and internal equity.
