Software Engineering Intern
Flocci
About the Role
- Position: Software Engineering Intern
- Company: Flocci
- Product: Flocci Pulse (live audience-engagement platform)
- Location: Ranchi, Jharkhand (Hybrid)
- Duration: 2 months
- Hours: ~40 hrs/week
- Openings: 2
- Application Close: 30 September 2026
- Cohort Start: October 2026
The Role
This is a two-month on-job training position focused on Flocci Pulse, our live audience-engagement platform. The role involves extensive testing of response formats, share links, and live result streams. Upon demonstrating understanding of data flow from browser to database and back to screens, you will move to the codebase.
Key Responsibilities
- Test all six Pulse response formats and identify discrepancies in validation, limits, or closing behavior.
- Trace a single response end-to-end: submit click, API call, validation, database entry, and real-time broadcast.
- Identify edge cases that appear in real-world usage (e.g., link opened after poll closure, simultaneous submissions, repeat votes, weak connection scans).
- Reconcile live analytics against raw database rows, reporting any numerical disagreements.
- Fix real defects in the Pulse UI or API via small, reviewed pull requests (e.g., missing validation rules, misleading empty states, inefficient result queries).
- Write migration and seed data for any schema changes.
- Maintain and run a regression list for your area before each release.
Phased Approach
- Phase 1 (Weeks 1–3): Testing
- Test all six response formats and document disagreements with requirements, including unstated requirements.
- What you produce:
- A test charter covering two response formats.
- Reproducible defect reports with steps, expected vs. actual results, browser/device details, and screenshots or network captures.
- A reconciliation note comparing on-screen analytics with raw response rows.
- A written list of non-functional requirements for live result screens and their testing methods.
- Phase 2 (Week 4): Gate - Explain the Response Path
- Walk through the path a response takes from submission to display with an engineer.
- Classify three of your own defects as violating functional or non-functional requirements and defend the classification.
- Predict and explain system failure under high response volume.
- Receive track decision for month two.
- Phase 3 (Weeks 5–8): Codebase or Testing Track
- Codebase Track: Address real Pulse issues and ship them in small, reviewed pull requests.
- Testing Track: Own a response format, including its test plan, regression list, and release sign-off.
- What you produce:
- Merged pull requests on Pulse repositories in conventional-commit format.
- Or a test plan for one response format with a regression list.
- A written closing review of your two months.
