Associate, Mechanical Engineering
L3Harris Technologies
About the Role
The engineer will work within a multi-functional hangar team to develop engineering solutions for aircraft life cycle sustainment. This role involves designing, modifying, and repairing aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment. Responsibilities include supporting the transition from engineering design to manufacturing and installation, applying structural analysis and repair design skills to solve problems of varying complexity, managing multiple concurrent tasks, and making decisive recommendations. Collaboration with diverse organizations is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to aircraft sustainment challenges
- Perform static analysis and evaluate Durability and Damage Tolerance using Finite Element Analysis
- Manage multiple concurrent tasks and priorities decisively
- Collaborate effectively within multi-functional teams
- Communicate engineering rationale clearly to technical and non-technical audiences through written and verbal means
- Work in aircraft hangar and manufacturing environments; access confined aircraft spaces (fuel tanks, wings, fuselage) with appropriate safety gear
- Support flexible work schedules as mission requirements dictate
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Civil Engineering background
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis
- Ability to work in aircraft hangar and manufacturing environments
- Ability to access confined aircraft spaces with appropriate safety gear
Qualifications
- To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical/Civil Engineering or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.
