Edit Intern

About the Role

MATTE is seeking an Editing Intern with a strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and an understanding of effective social media content. This role involves transforming raw footage into short-form content under the guidance of post-production leads and creatives, from initial assembly to final delivery. The intern will also explore the application of AI tools to enhance the editing workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit short-form social content and cutdowns for platforms including Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube.
• Support the editing process, encompassing footage review, initial assembly, revisions, versioning, and final exports.
• Assist in developing and refining AI-assisted workflows for tasks such as transcription, rough-cut assembly, captioning, and asset organization.
• Maintain organized project files, adhere to consistent naming conventions, and manage platform-specific export settings.
• Participate in creative reviews to understand how feedback influences pacing, storytelling, and final edits.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.
• A reel or samples of short-form edits (school and personal projects are acceptable).
• Strong understanding of pacing, sound, and visual storytelling, with an interest in social content.
• Working knowledge of Claude and other AI tools for task organization and workflow improvement.
• Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to project files, revisions, and delivery.
• Proactive, collaborative approach with a willingness to experiment, ask questions, and learn from feedback.

Nice to Have

• Basic motion graphics skills or familiarity with Adobe After Effects.
• Experience using scripting or structured prompts for repeatable AI-assisted workflows.

Program Requirements

• Enrollment in a university undergraduate or master's program.
• Availability for a minimum of 16 hours per week, with two days on-site at MATTE's New York City offices.
• Availability for the full program duration: February 3 through May 12, 2027.
• This is an unpaid internship.
• Interns are not eligible for employee benefits.
