Role: Energy Analyst / Energy Science Associate

About the Role

We are looking for a technically inclined and analytical professional to work at the intersection of energy science, electrical systems, data analytics, and software development. The candidate will study energy consumption and grid behaviour, analyze smart meter and facility-level data, conduct energy modelling and simulations, and collaborate with the software team to translate energy engineering concepts into practical analytical tools. The role also involves conducting energy audits at commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities, researching emerging energy technologies, and developing insights to support demand flexibility, energy efficiency, and grid optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Energy Science and Systems Analysis

  • Develop a strong understanding of energy generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption across electrical grids and consumer facilities.
  • Study electricity demand patterns, load profiles, power consumption, power quality, and time-of-day variations.
  • Analyse the relationship between consumer behaviour, electricity demand, grid loading, and energy efficiency.
  • Research demand-side management, demand response, renewable energy integration, energy storage, and emerging energy technologies.
  • Apply energy science principles to identify opportunities for improving grid efficiency and optimizing energy use.

Energy Data Analytics

  • Collect, process, and analyse smart meter data, electricity consumption records, load profiles, and other energy datasets.
  • Identify peak demand patterns, consumption trends, anomalies, and opportunities for load shifting.
  • Perform consumer segmentation and assess the energy consumption characteristics of residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
  • Develop analytical reports, visualizations, and performance metrics to communicate findings.
  • Support the development of energy intelligence solutions using data-driven methodologies.

Grid and Consumer Analytics

  • Analyse grid-level and consumer-level electricity demand to identify demand flexibility potential.
  • Evaluate peak and non-peak consumption patterns and assess the feasibility of shifting electricity usage across time periods.
  • Study the impact of consumer load shifting on peak demand reduction and grid efficiency.
  • Support the development of consumer selection methodologies using consumption, sanctioned demand, and peak demand parameters.
  • Assist in evaluating demand flexibility programmes and measuring energy shifted, demand reduction, and associated benefits.

Energy Modelling and Simulations

  • Develop and conduct simulations to study electricity demand, consumer load profiles, and different energy consumption scenarios.
  • Model the potential impact of demand flexibility interventions on consumer demand and aggregate grid load.
  • Evaluate scenarios involving renewable energy integration, energy efficiency measures, and energy storage.
  • Support the validation of energy models, forecasting methodologies, and analytical calculations.
  • Translate simulation results into practical recommendations for utilities, facility managers, and software developers.

Software and Product Development Collaboration

  • Work closely with the software development team to translate energy science concepts and engineering calculations into software requirements.
  • Define energy-related parameters, calculation logic, business rules, and analytical methodologies for the energy intelligence platform.
  • Validate platform outputs, dashboards, and analytics for technical accuracy.
  • Assist in designing algorithms for load profiling, energy forecasting, demand flexibility assessment, and energy performance monitoring.
  • Help bridge the gap between energy engineering concepts and their implementation in software products.

Energy Audits and Facility Assessments

  • Visit commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities to understand their electrical infrastructure and energy consumption.
  • Collect information on electrical equipment, operating schedules, connected loads, energy bills, and available meter data.
  • Analyse facility energy usage and identify opportunities for energy efficiency and demand optimization.
  • Assess the feasibility of shifting flexible loads without affecting operations.
  • Prepare audit observations, technical reports, and recommendations based on site assessments.

Research and Technical Documentation

  • Research emerging developments in energy science, grid modernization, smart metering, demand-side management, and decarbonization.
  • Prepare technical reports, simulation studies, research notes, case studies, and project documentation.
  • Support pilot projects with DISCOMs and commercial and industrial consumers.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical models, methodologies, and the energy intelligence platform.
