About the Role

Nordic Semiconductor seeks an Embedded OS Field Engineer to serve as the technical representative for Memfault, a device-observability platform, for customers building on Android/AOSP and embedded Linux. This customer-facing role involves guiding prospects and customers through technical evaluations and integrating Memfault into their development and production flows. This includes running architecture reviews, driving proofs-of-concept, and providing hands-on support to customer engineers. The role is suited for individuals comfortable with either Android/AOSP or embedded Linux, with a desire to grow expertise in the other. Contributors may also work on Memfault's Android and Linux SDKs. This role is comparable to Field Application Engineer (FAE), Forward Deployed Engineer, or Solution Architect/Engineer (SA/SE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery of customer architectures, and drive evaluations and POCs to success.
  • Own the hands-on integration of Memfault into customers' Android/AOSP and embedded Linux software, and into their development and product workflows.
  • Collaborate with customer platform and firmware engineers to integrate coredumps, metrics, OTA, and logging, and to troubleshoot issues.
  • Deliver technical pitches, demos, and workshops, and address architecture questions, in partnership with sales and customer success.
  • Relay feedback on product gaps, bugs, and improvements to product and SDK teams, and create reference examples, documentation, and tests.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Up to 5 years in embedded software, with deep, production experience in either Android/AOSP or embedded Linux, and the ability to learn the other.
  • Strong C/C++ on embedded targets (Rust and/or Kotlin are a plus).
  • Android experience required at the platform/AOSP level.
  • Experience with build systems such as Yocto, Buildroot, Soong, Bazel.
  • Proven ability to work directly with customers, translating their technical needs into working integrations.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to work in-person from Nordic's Boston, MA office 3 days per week.

Personal Skills

  • Comfortable presenting to and earning technical trust with customers, communicating clearly under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and kindly with others.
  • Clear and thoughtful written and verbal communication.
  • Growth mindset, eager to contribute across firmware, operating systems, and distributed systems.
  • Open to travel, ≤10% of the time (approx. 1 week/quarter domestic, 1 week/year international).

Benefits

  • Salary range: 110,000 - 187,000 USD.
  • Annual discretionary bonus and long-term incentive plan.
  • Medical and Dental benefits (100% employer-paid option for employees).
  • Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account.
  • Voluntary benefits available (e.g., disability and life insurance).
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Generous family-friendly leave policies (vacation, personal time, sick time, parental leave).
  • Opportunities for professional development and mentorship.

Practical Details
