Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineer
Morph Electric
About the Role
Morph Electric is an engineering-driven EV retrofit company building systems that convert existing petrol two-wheelers into smart & reliable electric vehicles.
We are looking for an engineer who enjoys designing, building, testing, correcting and finally putting a product into production. You will work on two-wheeler chassis interfaces, EV motor integration, battery packaging, mounting structures, brackets, enclosures, jigs/fixtures and related systems. SolidWorks is the primary engineering tool, but the job does not end when the CAD model is complete - the design must be manufacturable, fit on the vehicle, survive validation and be repeatable in production.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Design & CAD: Create accurate 3D models, assemblies, sheet-metal parts and production-ready 2D drawings in SolidWorks; manage revisions and design intent.
- EV / Vehicle Integration: Design motor mounts, battery packaging/enclosures, chassis interfaces, structural brackets, controller/electrical enclosures and related assemblies.
- Simulation & Validation: Use SolidWorks Simulation and/or ANSYS for structural/thermal studies, realistic load cases and design decisions; support physical testing and validation.
- DFM / DFA & GD&T: Select suitable materials, tolerances, fits, fasteners and assembly methods; design for manufacturability, serviceability, cost and repeatability.
- Sheet Metal, Fabrication & Manufacturing: Design manufacturable sheet-metal parts in SolidWorks and generate correct Flat Patterns / DWG / DXF files for laser cutting and fabrication. Work with bending, welding, machining, drilling/tapping, jigs/fixtures, surface finishing and assembly processes; understand how design choices affect cost, quality and production feasibility.
- 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping: Operate and maintain FDM 3D printers for prototypes and selected production parts. Prepare CAD for printing; use slicer software; optimize orientation, supports, infill and process parameters; select materials such as ABS, ASA, TPU, PETG and other engineering filaments based on the application; troubleshoot print quality, warping, layer adhesion and dimensional issues; verify and post-process finished parts.
- Prototype to Production: Personally follow prototype fabrication and vehicle fitment, identify issues, modify designs and release final production-ready drawings/BOMs.
- Vendor & Manufacturing Coordination: Communicate drawings and design intent clearly with assembly teams, fabricators, vendors and manufacturers; resolve manufacturability issues, follow trials, improve cost/quality and develop reliable vendors.
- Root Cause & Continuous Improvement: Study component/vehicle failures, identify root causes and convert learnings into design, quality or production improvements.
- Documentation & Ownership: Maintain BOMs, drawings, revisions, simulation/test reports and engineering changes so another engineer can continue the work without dependency.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile / Mechatronics or a closely related discipline.
- Strong SolidWorks capability - Parts, Assemblies, Sheet Metal and 2D drawings; proficient in Flat Patterns and DWG/DXF release for fabrication.
- Hands-on FDM 3D printer operation, slicing and basic troubleshooting; understanding of ABS, ASA, TPU, PETG and material selection for functional prototypes / production-use parts.
- Good mechanical fundamentals, strong problem-solving ability, and practical understanding of materials, fits, tolerances, fasteners and fabrication.
- Ability to convert an idea or vehicle problem into a manufacturable component and validate it physically.
- Team-leadership mindset: able to coordinate work, guide junior engineers/technicians, and work confidently with assembly teams, vendors and manufacturers.
- Good written and oral communication, attention to detail and fast learning; able to explain design intent and action points clearly.
