About the Internship

This is a semester-based marketing internship designed for a college student interested in social media, digital marketing, brand development, or communications. You will work with the owner to explore how a small business develops its online presence, connects with its audience, and turns marketing ideas into measurable results. This is an opportunity to develop practical skills, receive feedback, and build a portfolio through a defined set of marketing projects.

What You'll Learn and Work On

  • Social Media & Content Strategy
  • Evaluate BakeLab's existing social media presence and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Research content trends and develop a proposed weekly posting calendar.
  • Create a subset of posts, reels, stories, and promotional graphics that reflect our brand.
  • Marketing Campaign Development
  • Develop one or two campaign proposals around objectives such as brand awareness, customer engagement, seasonal promotions, or repeat purchases.
  • Identify the target audience, messaging, creative concepts, and success metrics for each campaign.
  • Present recommendations and help evaluate approved campaign results.
  • Brand Development & Customer Engagement
  • Explore ways to communicate BakeLab's story and products consistently across digital channels.
  • Research strategies for encouraging customer loyalty, repeat visits, and online orders.
  • Recommend improvements based on audience feedback and marketing data.
  • Analytics & Portfolio Development
  • Learn how to interpret engagement, reach, and other relevant marketing metrics.
  • Prepare a final presentation summarizing your projects, insights, and recommendations.
  • Develop work samples that demonstrate your marketing skills.

Who Should Apply?

We're especially interested in college students studying:

  • Marketing or digital marketing
  • Communications or public relations
  • Social media or content creation
  • Business or entrepreneurship
  • Graphic design or related fields

You don't need previous professional marketing experience. We're looking for someone curious, creative, organized, and eager to learn. You'll be a good fit if you enjoy coming up with ideas, taking initiative, researching trends, and explaining why a marketing approach might work.

How the Internship Works

  • A defined, semester-based internship with agreed-upon learning objectives.
  • A flexible schedule that accommodates classes and academic commitments.
  • At least one meeting per month with the owner, along with feedback at key project milestones.
  • Independent project work with guidance and support.
  • A final portfolio presentation and evaluation.
  • Academic credit may be explored in coordination with the student's college, subject to the school's requirements.

What You'll Take Away

By the end of the internship, you'll have experience developing a marketing strategy, planning content, proposing campaigns, interpreting performance data, and presenting recommendations for a real small business. You'll also have the opportunity to reflect on your work, receive feedback, and identify projects suitable for your professional portfolio.

Compensation & Employment Terms

Compensation and the structure of this internship will be communicated clearly before the position begins. This is an unpaid position with potential for compensation at the end.

How to Apply

Send a brief introduction explaining what you're studying, what interests you about marketing, and what you'd like to learn from this experience. If you have examples of class projects, social media content, designs, or other creative work, we'd love to see them. A formal portfolio is not required.
