Business Analyst (2 to 4 Years), Merchant

About the Role

PhonePe is a technology company that builds digital platforms for Payments, Digital Distribution Services and Financial Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Define critical metrics for pod strategy, monitor performance trends, and influence interventions.
• Collaborate with business and product functions to understand business problems and translate them into analytical problem statements.
• Own the insight generation phase, conduct deep, thorough analysis, and present evidence-backed, data-driven hypotheses.
• Contribute individual thoughts on improving critical metrics, thinking as a business owner.
• Act as the analytics and visualization SME, ensuring dashboards are designed for easy data consumption by the pod.
• Mentor other analysts, play an active role in hiring, and assist with new team member onboarding.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• SQL: Ability to write complex queries to manipulate and consolidate multiple data sources for dashboarding and analysis.
• Excel: Strong working knowledge.
• Visualization Tools: PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView.
• Data Analysis Languages: R, Python (understanding expected; experience building ML models is good-to-have but not mandatory).
• Statistical Concepts: Core understanding expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of overall analytics experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Product company.
• Strong problem-solving & analytical skills.
• Penchant for business and curiosity to understand product functionality.
• Intuition for data and ability to handle big data sources.
• Ability to clearly explain thoughts and ideas verbally or in writing.
• Candidates who can explain the story behind their analysis will have an advantage.
