Position Purpose
Patient safety attendants perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. This role involves working with high-risk suicide precaution patients. Patient safety attendants will remain with, and observe the assigned patient at all times, ensuring direct observation. Companions will arrange meal and break times with the patient's nurse to ensure the patient is never unattended.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up food trays and assisting with eating
- Assisting patients with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
- Offering fluids
- Accompanying patients on walks
- Assisting patients to the bathroom or chair
- Providing diversionary activities
- Replacing nasal cannulas
- Re-applying intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs)
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Must be able to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma
- Certifications: CPR or BLS Certification
- Availability: Every Other Weekend and Holiday required for Full-time and Part-time team members.
