Junior Data Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for fresh graduates / entry-level Data Engineers to join our Data Engineering team supporting enterprise data initiatives for a leading banking client. The candidate should have strong fundamentals and hands-on academic/project exposure in Databricks, ETL, SQL, and Python/PySpark.

Location: Candidate must be presently staying in Bengaluru location.

Work Place Model: Work From Office

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support ETL/ELT data pipelines using Databricks.
• Perform data ingestion, transformation, cleansing, and validation using PySpark and SQL.
• Work with Apache Spark, DataFrames, and Delta Lake/Delta Tables.
• Develop SQL queries involving joins, aggregations, CTEs, and window functions.
• Work with structured and semi-structured data and support incremental data processing.
• Support Bronze, Silver, and Gold data processing layers.
• Monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot failures, and resolve basic data-quality issues.
• Follow coding, documentation, security, and data-governance standards.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Databricks – Notebooks, Jobs/Workflows and basic platform understanding
• ETL/Data Engineering – Data ingestion, transformation, cleansing, and validation
• SQL – Joins, aggregations, subqueries/CTEs, window functions
• Python & PySpark – DataFrames, transformations, filtering, joins, and aggregations
• Apache Spark fundamentals
• Delta Lake / Delta Tables – basic understanding of MERGE, schema management, and ACID concepts
• Basic understanding of Data Lake / Data Warehouse concepts

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Genuine hands-on project/internship exposure to Databricks and ETL
• Ability to explain an end-to-end data pipeline/project
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn enterprise data engineering practices
• Awareness of data accuracy, confidentiality, and security, particularly for financial/customer data

Education: B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA/M.Sc. in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, Data Engineering, or related disciplines.

Note: 2025/2026 graduates with relevant hands-on project experience may be considered.
