About the Role
Giri Trading Agency Private Limited (GIRI) is seeking a full-time, on-site Buyer – Books in Chennai. This role is responsible for sourcing and selecting books that align with GIRI’s spiritual, cultural, and traditional product portfolio, ensuring a relevant and diverse assortment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluating suppliers
- Negotiating pricing and terms
- Managing purchase orders
- Monitoring stock levels to maintain optimal inventory
- Analyzing sales data and customer preferences to guide buying decisions
- Coordinating with showroom teams to understand demand trends
- Collaborating with merchandising and sales teams on promotions
- Engaging with publishers and distributors
- Tracking market developments
- Supporting overall category growth and customer satisfaction
Requirements & Tech Stack
- MS Excel or other inventory and sales tracking tools (proficiency is an advantage)
- Basic data analysis skills
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills
- Inventory Management skills
- Sales and Customer Service skills
- Retail Buying skills (including supplier evaluation, negotiation, assortment planning, and market trend analysis)
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in retail, bookstores, or spiritual/cultural products is beneficial.
- A diploma or degree in commerce, business, retail management, or a related field
