About the Role

The Assistant Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role supporting the overall engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel. The position ensures that all building systems, equipment, and facilities are safe, efficient, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising maintenance staff.
• Coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Overseeing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Collaborating with other departments to minimize downtime.
• Supporting event and guest requirements.
• Implementing energy-saving measures and sustainability initiatives.
• Maintaining documentation and compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and brand requirements.
• Assisting the Chief Engineer with budgeting, vendor management, and project execution.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Solid technical knowledge of hotel engineering systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building management systems.
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance planning, asset management, and troubleshooting facility-related issues.
• Proven ability to lead, train, and supervise a multidisciplinary maintenance team in a hospitality or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols, local building codes, and regulatory compliance.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work under time constraints, and respond promptly to guest and operational needs.
• Comfort with using maintenance management software and basic computer applications for reporting and documentation.
• Commitment to high standards of service, attention to detail, and continuous improvement in facility performance and guest experience.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification or degree/diploma in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field) from a recognized institution.
• Prior experience in hotel or resort engineering, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role, is highly beneficial.
