Junior Security Engineer

About the Role

1Password is looking for a Junior Engineer to join their Application Security team. This role will focus on building and maintaining security tooling, including static analysis, dynamic analysis, code scanning, and emerging agentic AI solutions, to help 1Password build and deliver secure products with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, integrate, and scale new agentic AI capabilities to enable secure product development activities.
• Enhance and maintain existing security tools in areas such as static analysis, dynamic analysis, and code scanning.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reporting metrics around the security risk program.
• Work with cross-functional partners across Security, Product Engineering, Marketing, CX, and more on the security parameters of new features.
• Work within a small team of Application Security Engineers focused on minimizing security risk across the SSDLC.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong foundational understanding of software development principles.
• Comfortable reading and writing code.
• Experience with internal tool development and engineering enablement.
• Strong experience leveraging agentic AI capabilities for security workflows, task automation, or detection/remediation.
• Ability to work well in a team environment with positive communication.
• Adaptable and resilient, thriving in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.

Qualifications

• 0-2+ years of experience in software development.
• Passion and curiosity for security engineering, including secure coding, pentesting, vulnerability analysis, security design, and architecture.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Rust and/or Golang, or a demonstrated ability to pick up new languages quickly.
• Experience conducting security code reviews, design architecture guidance, and threat modelling.
• Practical or hands-on experience with web application security topics, including OWASP Top 10.
