About the Role
This is a 100% Remote, Entry-Level Certified Pharmacy Technician position open to Any State.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and authorize approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or facsimile.
- Determine appropriateness for medications using client clinical criteria.
- Communicate decisions to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff, and/or pharmacists.
- Research, resolve, and document prior authorization outcomes in the pharmacy system.
- Communicate selected prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage, and formulary alternatives.
- Escalate requests to a Pharmacist when the request requires extensive clinical review or denial.
- Research, resolve, and document physician or client inquiries and grievances, providing verbal or written results.
- Perform other duties as required.
- For CPTs assigned to the fax queue:
- Clinically review coverage determinations for medications via Fax with attention to detail.
- Communicate decisions to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff, and/or pharmacists within SLA (service level agreement) guidelines.
- Efficiently multi-task and monitor several queues and assignments.
- Adapt to team requirements as business needs change.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- High school diploma or GED required.
- State and national Pharmacy Technician certifications required.
Preferred Skills
- Previous pharmacy benefit, prior authorization, healthcare, or commercial insurance experience.
- Customer service, call center, healthcare, pharmacy, or insurance experience.
Pay and Benefits
- Pay Range: $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
