Junior Design Engineer

About the Role

The Junior Design Engineer will support the design and development of mechanical and fabricated products, working closely with senior engineers and the production team. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update 2D and 3D CAD models.
• Prepare drawings and documentation.
• Assist in product design reviews.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and compliant with standards.
• Make design modifications based on feedback from the shop floor and clients.
• Help with basic calculations, material selection, and maintaining design records and revision control.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Skills in Design Engineering and Product Design.
• Ability to translate concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Skills in Mechanical Engineering, including basic strength-of-materials, manufacturing processes, and material selection.
• Skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), preferably experience with tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 2D/3D software.
• Foundational skills in Electrical Engineering (beneficial but not mandatory) to support understanding of integrated mechanical–electrical systems.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Basic knowledge of industry standards.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to take guidance and work collaboratively with senior engineers and production staff.

Qualifications

• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is preferred.
• Prior internship or entry-level experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or design environment will be considered an advantage.
