Assistant Manager, Succession Planning

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing succession plans for family-owned businesses, income-generating assets, artwork, charitable institutions, and other family wealth.
• Support the assessment and structuring of succession arrangements, including Wills, private trusts, family settlements, gifts, partition arrangements, family charters, and other wealth-transfer mechanisms.
• Understand family objectives, long-term aspirations, and financial priorities to help design succession structures that align with their future needs.
• Assist in evaluating business continuity, transfer of ownership, and management succession, while considering the interests and expectations of different family members and generations.
• Support succession planning involving NRIs, non-resident trustees or beneficiaries, foreign trusts, overseas foundations, and international assets, including analysis of relevant Indian tax and FEMA regulations.
• Assist in assessing the potential impact of overseas succession laws, tax regulations, and estate or inheritance tax provisions, wherever applicable.
• Help prepare, review, and refine legal and related documents, including trust deeds, Wills, family settlement agreements, shareholder agreements, and family charters.
• Prepare client presentations, research-based technical notes, and other advisory materials, and assist in client discussions and family meetings.
• Support the execution of succession plans by coordinating registrations, KYC formalities, PAN/TAN applications, bank and demat account setup, nominations, asset transfers, and associated documentation.
